We would like to thank you for your recent update to your driveway. We believe that keeping a good driveway is keeping it well maintained. Please feel free to view the rest of this page for ideas and tips to keep your driveway well maintained for years to come!

After the driveway has first been installed you can walk on it immediately, but you must keep automobile traffic off for at least 3 full days and longer in hotter temperatures. The liquid asphalt in blacktop can take 6-12 months to harden and cure. When driving on the driveway, be sure to stay away from parking close to the edges. It is recommended that you build up the sides of your driveway with topsoil or a small retaining wall which would add to the decorative look to your new driveway.

In higher temperatures, you can water down your driveway which will help cool and temporarily harden the asphalt. Although this can be helpful, it is not required. When doing this, also be aware that you may see soap suds. This is a reaction between the diesel fuel in asphalt with the chlorine content found in the water you are using. When you do this you will also notice puddles that may form, this is inevitable depending on the natural slope of your area.

We also recommend not turning your wheels while parked in one place, driving too fast, or starting out too fast which can all leave marks. If it all possible in the first year of your driveway, try not to park at the exact same spot every day. This will all to help prolong the look of your new driveway.

If you have to use a jack, car ramps, or stands be sure to place a piece of plywood underneath to help distribute the weight accordingly. Also parking heavy vechicles or bringing in heavy trucks on your new driveway can cause depressed areas, making your driveway uneven.

During the warmer months smaller items like bicycles, motorcycles, high heeled shoes, lawn chairs...etc..can cause smaller depressed areas in your new driveway.

If over the seasons of the year you begin to see cracks, they must be filled in with crack filler or sealer which can be purchased from your local building supply store.

The final thing we recommend to preserve the longevity of your driveway is to periodcally seal it after it has been paved. Before doing this please feel free to contact us for help and recommendations on when the best time would be to do this.
